Meet Me at the Fair

One of my favorite traditions is dragging Christian to the Orange County Fair with me, he loves it. Actually, I think he just loves me. Either way, I have been going for a long time and so its something that I just have to do despite the heat or the crowds or even the insane cost for a corn dog the size of your arm. So, we took the kiddos, Aunt Cookie, and Grammie & Papa and went to the fair! We watched the little pig races, saw all sorts of animals, played some games, and ate lots of fair food. Elouise also played in the plash pad with a zillion other kids and got completely soaked, ate her own corn dog, and got to pick her own prize courtesy of Daddy’s game winning skills. Oh and thanks to Aunt Cookie she got to try her first Sour Patch Kid, which was pretty darn cute!

5 Tips for Getting Sleep During Family Travel

A few weeks ago we had the most magical stay at The Disneyland Hotel. It was just for one night and happens to be a short 1-hour drive from our house but regardless, we had to get creative when it came to bedtime. We have traveled quite a bit with Elouise and now we are learning all sorts of new tricks since we’ve been hitting the road with Sully. Traveling with a baby and a toddler, or any amount of children, is totally possible and can still be fun, even if you aren’t staying at the happiest place on earth. Keep scrolling, because I decided to share some of my best tips for getting a good nights sleep while traveling as a family.

The Cannon Adventures: Family Getaway at Omni La Costa

I’ve mentioned before that us Cannons love a good adventure. Christian and I were so lucky to get to travel all over the world before we had Elouise and we promised ourselves we wouldn’t stop exploring when she arrived. We totally kept that promise and have taken her all over on fun family getaways, road trips, and even a Hawaiian vacation. Things have been crazy for us since Sully arrived but we are finally settling into a routine and knew it was time to get a family adventure on the books for 2017. We decided on Omni La Costa in gorgeous Carlsbad, CA which is a quick hour drive away from us. It was the perfect early kick off to, what we hope will be, a Summer filled with adventures both big and small.

Just Another Disney Day

I mean, a day at Disneyland wouldn’t be complete without a churro, right? These ones were hot and fresh and I honestly could have eaten 5. Luckily I listened to my better judgement and only ate one and a half, HA! We had such a fun day. The last few times we have gone things have felt a little rushed or we have dealt with tantrums. This trip we planned on leaving at 1pm and ended up staying until 7pm because of how smooth everything went. Honestly I’m pretty sure it’s because I gave myself really attainable goals for the trip like seeing Frozen live and meeting Tinkerbell and Moana. Literally those were the only “plans” for the day. The rest we winged and it went so much better. You think I would be better at taking my own advice since it’s one of the tips I blogged about a few months ago. I shared a few photos of our day below, all taken on my iPhone (you don’t need to lug around a fancy camera all day at the parks to capture great photos!). Then at the very bottom you’ll find a video montage of our day.

You are 16 going on 17

Get it guys? Well, 2016 has come to an end. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster year if I’m being honest. I am feeling ready to welcome in a new year with a fresh start, but this year I’m not really making a list of “resolutions” like I have before. Instead, I am giving this year a theme and am going to do my best to see everything through that lens.
