Second Trimester Survival Guide

Now that I’ve made it past the second trimester I thought it would be nice to compile a little list of the sweet little gems that made it possible for me to make it through the last 12 weeks. Sure, every pregnancy and woman is a little different, but I’m pretty sure that all of these things should be considered must haves. Don’t worry, I will tell you exactly why I needed all 6 of these products to get me through, but first the introductions.

  1. Belabumbum Yoga Jogger Pant: You guys, these may be the softest and comfiest pants I have ever worn. They have an adjustable waistband that fits comfy over a growing belly, but would also be totally fine after when they bump is no more. They are full length pants but have the cutest little cuffed ankle that kind of make me feel like I’m Princess Jasmine. Any clothing item that makes me feel like a Disney princess at 7 months pregnant is a winner in my book. Just treat yourself mama, you deserve it!
  2. Bellifly Pillow: Let me take you back in time, to when I was pregnant with Elouise and desperate to find a pregnancy support pillow. The problem was that my husband and I are both tall people sleeping in a queen size bed. Oh, and I can’t be touched while I sleep, so we have very strict sleeping zones in our little bed. Most pillows out there are enormous and they also have a pretty hefty price tag to go with it. So I searched and found a compact pillow, hooray! Well, after I tried using it unsuccessful for about a week I googled how to properly place it to provide support and surprise I was doing it wrong. Even bigger surprise was that it literally didn’t fit my body because compact clearly referred to the size of the person using the pillow and not their bed. Fast forward to now, and discovering the genius Bellifly pillow! It is basically two pillows with a stretchy connector meaning that it moves to fit where I need it to. I can easily have my belly and legs supported without any extra pillow crowding up our bed.
  3. D’Noir Prunes: Okay I don’t think I really need to explain why I need these as I get further into my pregnancy. Let’s just keep is sweet and say they keep a girl regular. This is a nice little annoyance I have had with both pregnancies and I finally found the trick. After all sorts of random medicines and supplements, I finally tried the good ol’ tried and true prune. I am not a fan of dried fruit, like at all. That is why I was so hesitant to try them. These particular prunes are the only ones I would touch. They have no preservatives and just taste like sweet, juicy, treats. In fact I tell my daughter they are a treat and I think she holds them equal to a fruit snack. Dare I say that I kind of agree!
  4. Healthy Human Stainless Tumbler with Young Living Essential Oils: I love to drink water. I actually prefer it over any other drink. Yes, I am aware that I am slightly odd, as my husband would put Dr. Pepper in a camelback backpack and slowly sip on it all day long. The only problem is that I get busy and forget to drink as much as I should, or would forget how much I even drank at the end of the day. So, I got this sweet tumbler to help motivate me, and crazy enough it has totally worked! Plus this baby keeps my ice in tact and my water cold two times longer than my regular old tumblers. It also doesn’t sweat, which I happen to find so annoying. maybe the most exciting this about it is the fact that I can put essential oils in my water since the tumbler and straw are both stainless steel. Score! That is even more motivation for me to drink because it tastes yummy and gives me a little boost of energy. My favorites to add are lemon and grapefruit.
  5. Tubby Todd Belly Balm: I recently did a review on all of the Tubby Todd’s mama products but I would have been miserable throughout my second trimester without the Belly Balm. This is the time where my belly has really begun to stretch and grow like crazy, which means that I am desperate to get as much moisture on my skin as possible to help soften the blow of the inevitable stretch marks. I have super duper sensitive skin and really picky taste when it comes to lotions, so it is very hard for me to find one I love. This stuff is 100% natural and is so soft and silky, not sticky or thick like most belly balms I’ve tried.
  6. Belly Bandit Bump Support Tank: Seriously so genius. I mean I have to wear a shirt anyway, so why not wear one that supports my giant baby bump that is constantly weighing me down? It also helps give my lower back a little break. Plus, its made with Wonder Weave fabric, which basically makes me Wonder Woman, right? It also means that any belly balm I put on really soaks in and moisturizes my skin rather than rubbing off on my shirt. Amazing!

Well, there you have it. These things are literally the only way I survived the second trimester, so I hope maybe one of two of these things will be a help to one of you. What were some of your favorite tried and true pregnancy items? Now that I’ve entered the third trimester I know I’ll need to come up with a whole new guide to survival.
