Exploring the San Diego Harbor

This past weekend we made the drive down to San Diego to explore the harbor. I had never been down to that area and I’m so glad we went, although I wish we would have worn warmer clothes. We only live about an hour and a half away but we left sunny and 80 degrees for cloudy 65 degrees with light sprinkling. Whatcha gonna do? Luckily we spent the first half of our time exploring indoors and by the time we came back outside the drizzling had stopped. Besides just exploring the area, we got to experience Wonder Spaces. It’s a pop-up art exhibit that features installments from independent artists. The kids really enjoyed it and so did we! I think it’s so important to expose them to these unique experiences even when they are so young, it allows for a really cyclical learning experience. Not only do we get to talk to them about what we are doing, but hearing their perspectives and witnessing their joy teaches us to see through the eyes of a child. Kids really are amazing!

3 Tips for Picking a Kid Friendly Hotel

The age-old question, how do you know if you’re picking the right hotel for a family trip? Let me tell you that we have learned our fair share of things the hard way. Some things were just tiny changes we’d make for the next trip, and other things meant we got zero sleep. Needless to say, we’ve got some tricks up our sleeves and I’m sharing a few with you. I’ve got lots of helpful posts about family travel but this one is going to let you in on how to do the one thing that will really make or break your time away with your family, picking a kid-friendly hotel. We recently stayed at the Howard Johnson Anaheim and I think it’s safe to call it the most kid-friendly hotel we’ve stayed at yet!

A Tea Party with Hello Kitty and Ergobaby

We recently got the opportunity to celebrate the launch of the new Ergo Baby and Hello Kitty collection. Since it’s live for purchase today, I thought it would be a great time to share all of the fun details of the event. We haven’t taken the kiddos out to something like this for what feels like forever, so the drive in traffic to get to Hollywood was totally worth it (just don’t ask my husband, the driver). We have used and loved Ergobaby since Elouise was a tiny thing and they have been our favorite structured carrier by far. We left the event with the most adorable doll carrier for Elouise that matched the carrier that I picked to bring home. Twinning in carriers is super cute, right? I don’t think Sully will mind if I have him in a pink carrier, just scroll down to see his reaction to meeting the real Hello Kitty.

Planning the Perfect Family Vacation

The month of January is coming to a close and it’s the first time I’m posting about family travel on the blog. What is this craziness? In fact, one of the things we have decided to prioritize as a family in 2018 is quality family time. Usually, for us, that looks like going out on a wild adventure, but it really doesn’t have to be all that complicated. I’ve posted tons of family travel trips right here on the blog, but I also keep going back to Alamo Rent A Car’s Scenic Route – a travel resource online that I’ve shared about before. They actually have a Vacation Planning Toolkit which can help you get ready for National #PlanforVacation Day coming up on January 30th. Wait, you didn’t know that was a thing? Well, it is, so get to work planning something fun for you and your family for 2018!

3 Tips for Holiday Travel with Kids

Alright, I’m back as I promised with some tips we picked up on our last stay with our kids. Obviously, the holidays are a super popular time for travel and also a time of year where we are all trying to save money in order to buy the perfect presents for our family. So, I wanted to pop in with some tips for traveling with your kids, especially if you’re going to be sharing a hotel room or a common space with your little ones. On this last trip, we had one room, two kids, and a lot of time to kill after the kids fell asleep and we were trapped.
