Sullivan’s Birth Story

I’m currently sitting with an almost two week old little guy cuddled up on my chest. Becoming a mama again has been the most wonderful gift I could have ever imagined. I think that I grew a second heart just to make room for all of the love I have for him. Then there’s the third heart that holds all of the love I gain in the moments I watch my two babies interact. Elouise is already the best big sister and is so sweet to her brother. Well, it took me over a year and a half to write down Elouise’s birth story and I was not going to wait that long to document little man’s arrival. So without further ado, I give you the story of how we met Sullivan Gray Cannon.

Surviving the Third Trimester

For me, the third trimester has been all about survival. Literally, like how the heck am I supposed to survive this for three more months? My sciatic pain has reached a new level, my sleep patterns are all over the place, and I still have a wild toddler who wants to have adventures with her mama. Well, I’ve made it almost to the end, with 4 weeks until little man’s due date and I have rounded up a few of the ways I’ve gotten through what for sure has felt like the hardest trimester so far.

What’s in My Hospital Bag?

I spent this weekend gathering all of the items I think I’ll need and officially packed my hospital bag today. It is SO intimidating because I don’t want to overpack, but at the same time I would much rather have too much than realize I need something I don’t have. I had my little helper try to sneak a few extra things in, but I’m pretty sure I don’t need Mickey Mouse or a light up pumpkin wand for labor or recovery. I have complied a quick guide of the 16 things that I packed in my bag.

Elouise’s Birth Story

Baby Boy’s due date is officially one month away, and I have been thinking back to a year and a half ago when I was in this same stage in my pregnancy with Elouise. Things looked a whole lot different but somehow they are also surprisingly similar. Thinking back made me realize that I have never actually written down Elouise’s birth story, so before I have another story to tell and things get all jumbled, I decided to share it here with you all. I spared no detail, so it’s pretty long. Maybe grab a cup of coffee and hunker down to read it during morning nap time.

A Simple Shower for Baby Boy

Last weekend was my shower to celebrate baby boy and honestly it couldn’t have been more wonderful. Just over 20 of my closest friends and family showed up and it was the perfectly intimate backyard gathering. I am personally not much for “themes”, unless of course it’s a kiddos birthday and then I can’t resist. We didn’t have a shower or nursery theme with Elouise and we don’t with baby boy either. That meant I got to have a shower that looked how I wanted it to. Since I am all about simplicity and neutrals, it made sense to decorate with eucalyptus and baby’s breath and a touch of burlap.
