Okay, so I’m sneaking this post in by the skin of my teeth, but I’m still technically 23 weeks so I’m calling it a win. I’m just over here trying to not die of heatstroke in 100 degree weather. This whole being pregnant in the summer thing is not my favorite. I can barely step outside without feeling like I have to sit down or drink a gallon of ice water. In more exciting news I did have a doctor’s appointment this week and I was told that I’m measuring at about 25 weeks, which was no surprise since Elouise was a whopping 9lbs 4oz. My husband and I are just not destined to have small babies.
My doctor also talked to me a little bit about how the labor and delivery wing works in our local hospital. See, with Elouise we delivered at another hospital since we were living in Orange County and I felt like we were in a 4 star hotel. The sweet doctor probably had no idea how much she terrified me when she started talking about the potential of having to share a recovery room. Now, I know some of you might snicker at this, but my only experience with childbirth was in a brand new, shiny, quiet hospital with lovely private rooms. So, in my head that’s what I was going to get this time. She not so sweetly began explaining to me that while they do their best to try to keep the rooms private, its not guaranteed. That was followed by “I sure wouldn’t want to have to share a bathroom with another woman who had just given birth” Well, thanks a lot lady, that makes me feel a whole lot better! Not. So, if any of you have lovely experiences with sharing a recovery room, go ahead and send those stories my way.
For now, I’ll just be living life pretending that she never said all of those scary things and planning out different routes to take to the Orange Country hospital just in case I’m feeling adventurous when its go time.
