3 Tips for throwing a Kids’ Holiday Party on a Budget

It’s been over a month now since Valentine’s Day actually happened so I figured it was as good a time as any to get a post up about how I did this budget-friendly party. The story goes, my husband goes out of town on a work trip, so I decide to have some of my favorites mamas over with their babes to exchange valentines, and then I black out and throw a full-blown party. Luckily, this is not the first time that this has happened. Why is that lucky? Well, you see since it’s happened before I know all the tricks to pulling this off in a budget-friendly way, you know the kind that won’t make my husband call me from his work cruise (it’s a thing) to ask if I’ve lost my mind. I’ll give you two words as a hint before I get into the nitty-gritty, Dollar Tree.

How I’m Staying Sane this Holiday Season

I think every mom can agree that we wish we had a second set of eyes. I could rattle off a list of about a hundred reasons why they would come in handy. I am even more aware of this need during the holidays though. Find a mom during the holidays and I can almost guarantee that she is multitasking about 5 things at any given moment. Things get CRAZY. Out of town guests, cooking elaborate meals, organizing holiday cheer, shopping for gifts, decorating to the nines, and all of that on top of the normal never-ending to-do list. I’m tired just thinking about it. That’s where my secret weapon comes in, my extra set of eyes if you will. I’ve partnered with Logitech to tell you all about how I’m using their new Circle 2 camera to stay sane during the holidays, and it’s really good.

Favorite Fall Diffuser Blends

I’ll admit I am pretty basic in the sense that I have to have my house filled with the scent of whatever season we are in. Like, it’s not actually Fall until my house smells like pumpkin spice, dang it. I used to stock up on allllll the candles. Like 5 for Fall and 5 for Christmas and rotate them. Candles on repeat. Well, you won’t find me burning candles anymore. No judgments if you’re a candle lover, nope not one bit. However, I am in the mindset of when you know better, you do better. That’s what got me started on this whole essential oil journey in the first place. When I started researching and learning more about the things in my home and the things I was exposing to myself and my family so I was like, no thanks. Long story short, if you don’t want to go on a candle throw away rampage, don’t keep reading. I will say that I still achieve those amazing Fall smells in my home but in a way that is non-toxic and actually cheaper. Boom!

Sullivan’s Nursery Tour

I am so incredibly beyond excited to share Sully’s room with you guys. I poured my heart into this project. Mostly because I don’t think I was emotionally ready to have him in his own room since Elouise slept in our walk-in closet at our old place until she was 22 months. There were a few things I knew I needed in his room and then I kind of let the rest fall into place. I have always loved the look of “intentional clutter” but lately I’ve really been drawn to minimalist decorating. It’s almost more of a challenge because you really have to make the things you pick out count. I worked really hard to pull every detail together down to coordinating the two different colors of wood even into the tiniest details. I’ll share a little bit of insight as to how I pulled everything together below. I’ve linked everything at the bottom of the post for you guys and some of the links I’m sharing are affiliate links, so if you chose to buy something through them you’ll be helping support my family, which I appreciate more than you know.

Playroom Reveal

Alright, this post has been a long time coming. The play room has slowly been coming together since we moved in almost 6 months ago, but since my kids didn’t care about the decor or furniture, it kinda gave me an excuse to put it on the back burner. Well, we are 90% finished and we happened to have it clean, and that’s a rare occurrence you guys, so we snapped some photos (read to the end of the post to see what I’m doing with the other 10% of the playroom). I did my best to link the items in the playroom but I will say that some were thrifted years ago, some are no longer sold so I found a similar version, and a lot of things were hit with a good amount of white spray paint. I also rounded up some of our favorite toys and games! Well, let the playroom photo spam begin.
