#worldbreastfeedingweek

If you’ve been following my blog since the beginning, you’ve probably read my post about our breastfeeding journey. I’ll sum it up in one sentence for you. It started out rocky and ended the best way possible. That’s only because I was able to surround myself with resources that encouraged me to not give up without a fight. This week is world breastfeeding week and it is something I think is so important, because it gets the conversation started about one of the most natural, yet taboo, things we do as mothers.

Dressing the Bump: Week 24

Week 24 is just about over people, this is not a drill. I had a moment this week where everything became really real for me and suddenly the reality of having another baby just hit me right in the heart. Like, all aspects not just the sweet cuddles, but all of the bits and pieces. Good, difficult, sweet, and emotional. It really got me thinking about perspective. Perspective can change everything. Sometimes all we need is a different view to see the beauty in something. I once heard life compared to a tapestry and it kind of made everything make sense to me. Okay bear with me here, I know it doesn’t sound very relevant, but have you ever seen a tapestry being made? It’s a delicate and painstaking process and requires attention to detail and skill. Even one tiny piece out of place can disrupt the complex and intricate design.

No-Bake Peanut Butter Power Bites

PBnSnacks-6

I have always had a slight obsession with peanut butter. Maybe it started with the peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches my mom packed me for lunch or the fact that sometimes she’d encourage me to have a spoonful of peanut butter when I’d complain that I was starving. I slowly became a peanut butter snob, always on the hunt for the best. It had to be the all natural, no nonsense kind that took 5 minutes to stir when you opened it. I go back and forth between a crunchy and smooth obsessions, but I still eat peanut butter at least once a day in some form. Luckily, Elouise is a fan of peanut butter, which is why I threw together this simple recipe for Peanut Butter Power Bites. My current favorite peanut butter brand is Pic’s Peanut Butter, hands down. It’s all natural with only two ingredients, Australian high-oleic peanuts and salt. Plus their crunchy peanut butter is just on a whole other level.

Dressing the Bump: Week 23

Week23-2

Okay, so I’m sneaking this post in by the skin of my teeth, but I’m still technically 23 weeks so I’m calling it a win. I’m just over here trying to not die of heatstroke in 100 degree weather. This whole being pregnant in the summer thing is not my favorite. I can barely step outside without feeling like I have to sit down or drink a gallon of ice water. In more exciting news I did have a doctor’s appointment this week and I was told that I’m measuring at about 25 weeks, which was no surprise since Elouise was a whopping 9lbs 4oz. My husband and I are just not destined to have small babies.

Adulting is Hard

It really is though, right? A few days ago I shared very briefly over on my Instagram about the stress of trying to create a budget for our family. So many of you left encouraging words or shared that you are in the same boat. I even had some say how refreshing it is to hear that I was going through something so similar to them and even asked for any tips I may have. Let me first start by saying that we have not been good at sticking to a budget, which is why we just started the Financial Peace University course through our church. We are only on week two, but let me tell you that Dave Ramsey does not mess around, so I have high hopes for us. Hopefully I’ll have some tips in a couple of months when we are in the thick of living out all of our new habits.

Now, I want to get a little vulnerable and share with you about the season of life we are in as a family.
