I spent this weekend gathering all of the items I think I’ll need and officially packed my hospital bag today. It is SO intimidating because I don’t want to overpack, but at the same time I would much rather have too much than realize I need something I don’t have. I had my little helper try to sneak a few extra things in, but I’m pretty sure I don’t need Mickey Mouse or a light up pumpkin wand for labor or recovery. I have complied a quick guide of the 16 things that I packed in my bag.
Dressing the Bump: Week 35
So Week 35 is coming to a close and I’ll be honest, I did not want to take these photos. I am feeling HUGE, like “walk past a mirror and do a double take because that can’t be me” kind of huge. I suppose that’s all part of the process though. Especially when you’re like me and somehow didn’t get that crazy burst of energy in the second trimester, I blame my toddler, and also have dealt with annoying sciatic pain almost constantly. This means that I spent a lot of time resting and the time I spent out and about was mostly for Disneyland trips or walks at the mall. If you catch where I’m going with this, I’m trying to nicely say that I was not the “fit mama” during this pregnancy. However, I was the mama who wasn’t opposed to eating the occasional burger and fries. So here I am with a month to go, and doing what I can to embrace my body for the miraculous thing it’s doing for our family. This baby better be cute!
Elouise’s Birth Story
Baby Boy’s due date is officially one month away, and I have been thinking back to a year and a half ago when I was in this same stage in my pregnancy with Elouise. Things looked a whole lot different but somehow they are also surprisingly similar. Thinking back made me realize that I have never actually written down Elouise’s birth story, so before I have another story to tell and things get all jumbled, I decided to share it here with you all. I spared no detail, so it’s pretty long. Maybe grab a cup of coffee and hunker down to read it during morning nap time.
The Cannon Adventures: Seattle Trip
Well, now that the effects of the travel trauma have fully worn off I’m I’m finally ready to share about our Seattle trip. I’m half joking. Which means that I’m half serious. You guys, the highlights we’re seeing one of my oldest friends marry her best friend, watching Elouise as the cutest flower girl, and eating at Biscuit Bitch. So, basically we could have done our whole trip in 48 hours instead of the 5 days of madness. I was so stressed most of the time that I hardly took any photos but we have a few winners, and I’ve put together some of my favorite moments from my Instagram stories, including her walking down the aisle, into a little video of cuteness.
A Simple Shower for Baby Boy
Last weekend was my shower to celebrate baby boy and honestly it couldn’t have been more wonderful. Just over 20 of my closest friends and family showed up and it was the perfectly intimate backyard gathering. I am personally not much for “themes”, unless of course it’s a kiddos birthday and then I can’t resist. We didn’t have a shower or nursery theme with Elouise and we don’t with baby boy either. That meant I got to have a shower that looked how I wanted it to. Since I am all about simplicity and neutrals, it made sense to decorate with eucalyptus and baby’s breath and a touch of burlap.
