The one thing that I was most worried about when we found out I was pregnant was loosing sleep when the new baby arrived. No, seriously, that was my biggest worry. I really, really, like my sleep, and Elouise was sleeping through the night pretty much since we brought her home from the hospital. Surely we had no chance of getting that lucky again. Then Sullivan was born and the DockATot saved our sleep.
To be fair, I don’t think most newborns really sleep for the first week or so. It’s all sort of a blur, right? I’ll be honest, our first night home was a tough transition. Sullivan just didn’t want to stay asleep unless we were holding him. That was not going to fly for this mama. You see, I can’t even have my poor husband touching me when we are in bed, its a personal space thing. Also, little man came a week early, so while we were prepared for him to come, I don’t know if mentally I was fully ready. That’y why we tried basically everything our sleep deprived brains could think of to get him to sleep before snagging the DockATot. DUH!
We had always planned on using it for naps and nighttime, and for any other time really. I had heard of the magic of the DockATot from plenty of other moms, but I finally got to experience it that first night home. We swaddled our little buddy and laid him down in his DockATot Deluxe and he was out in just a few minutes. In fact, we actually had to wake him up 3 hours later to change his diaper, thanks a lot circumcision (insert eye-roll here).
We also have the DockATot Grand for Elouise, which she refers to as her cuddle bug bed. She loves that thing and thinks its the best that Sullivan has one too. We can’t wait for Elouise to get a big girl bed so we can use her DockATot to aid in the transition from crib to bed. If you are considering whether you should buy one or not, I really can’t reccomend it enough. Who has two thumbs and loves DockATot? This mama, that’s who!
