Let me start by saying that this is the third time I’ve registered for a new baby. I’ve also spent the last 3 years testing and reviewing baby products for my blog and Instagram. I’ve had almost all of the hip, cool products and I’ve figured out which ones are worth your money and space in your home and which are something to pass on. I’ve created this list through that lens, with the hopes in sharing the no nonsense items that you need. These are the items I know I will be using almost daily, if not multiple times a day, for moths to come. Obviously this is missing things like clothes, diapers, pacifiers, and bottles. You’re going to need those too, but those things are so specific from person to person. In fact with diapers, pacifiers, and bottles, it’s really going to be up to your baby because even between my own kids the “right” products were from different brands. So go have fun with that stuff, but come here to find the no nonsense goods you’re going to need.
- Nuna Leaf: This item is something new to me this time around but I did a ton of research for a great baby seat. We have had our fair share of them, let me tell ya. We did have the MamaRoo from 4 Moms, however Elouise was not a fan and Sully was. That was the consensus I seemed to find most commonly across the Internet. Your baby either loved it or hated it. It is a bit bulky and no portable which was kind of a bummer. That’s why I loved this option from Nuna. The leaf has a small footprint in your home and can easily be moved from room to room and even traveled with if you need to. I also liked that is has a super plush seat for baby and moved from side to side. We had another seat with Sully but it was not very cozy and had the up and down motion which my babies seem to not like as much as the “sway”. Anyway, this got such great reviews both online and from friends and followers. I can’t tell you how many messages I got singing the praises of the Nuna Leaf when I shared about it in my Instagram stories. I’m super excited about this one!
- Ryan and Rose Pacifier Clips: These are hands down one of the biggest life savers for me as a mama and we have used them with both kids. You better believe we are going to clip all of the things to baby #3. Here’s what I love about them, they are cute (not like the ones you find in baby stores), they are designed to be a safe length to use with baby (aka no scary choking hazard), and they keep all the things safely attached to your baby, their stroller, or you! No more missing pacifiers, or lost pacifiers. On top of all of that the company is run by an amazing mama who hustles to create the most adorable and high quality products. I love supporting that!
- Freshly Picked Moccasins: This is another product I have bought for both of my kids. They fit almost any foot, I’m talking the teeny tiny to the Fred Flinstone, and they actually stay on! The soft soles are great for early walkers to help them develop the proper balance and just super comfy. They are made with premium leather, which means they last forever. Sully even got hand me downs from Elouise when she outgrew hers because they held up so well. I know they may seem a bit on the expensive side, but they are well worth it and a great thing to register for because people are going to love buying adorable baby shoes. They also have a ton of great sales all the time and even have a membership called The Fringe that gets you 20% off every purchase and free shipping.
- DockATot: And all of the mamas said “AMEN!”. Seriously though, this is another product we used with both kids. They both have slept in the Grand (the larger size) and with Sully we also used the Grand from the time he was born. Really its a genius product. It is so comfy for baby and helps to mimic the feeling of closeness to a parent but is proven to be safe (this was huge for me when we were deciding to give it a try). It’s no wonder that SO many parents rave about it. It’s great to allow baby to safely cosleep in your bed and also easily portable to keep sleep time consistent for baby. This is something we really loved since we travel a lot. No matter what “bed” they are sleeping in, it will feel like their own bed because the DockATot is a breeze to transport!
- Fridet The MomWasher: I’ll be honest, this one made me laugh at first. I have not used this yet, but the reviews really speak for themselves. I’m talking hundreds and hundreds of 5 star reviews. Lets be honest, postpartum life is not glamorous at ALL. After I had Elouise my husband literally had to help me pull up my mesh panties for the first few days because it was so hard to stand up. Drama. So instead of using the standard squeeze bottle that the hospital gives you that requires you to stick your whole hand in the toilet to wash your lady bits because newflash first time mamas, you are not supposed to be wiping right after birth and you will also just neeeeeed to wash down there, trust. So this sweet little bottle has an angled spout meaning it gets right up in the area without making you get all up in the toilet. Praises be!
- Goumi Mitts: File this under “things I will not be unprepared for this time”. Elouise wasn’t really a huge face scratcher. She gave herself a few good ones but never enough for me to mitt her up. Sully was a different story, and we tried the standard little mitts with the elastic and they just got flung off left and right. I wouldn’t ever notice until it was too late and a new battle wound had appeared. These babies are adjustable, have a zillion different patterns and prints, and again the reviews are just insane. Mamas love these things!
- Solly Baby Wrap: Ah, this might just be the one product that I wish I could gift every single new mama. You NEED one. Don’t be fooled by the other baby wraps on the market, they are not all created equal. I know, because I’ve tried a lot of them. The Solly wrap is easy to use, not bulky, lightweight, so soft and cozy, and freaking cute. They come out with the prettiest color and prints and they honestly wear more like an accessory for mama. Both of my kids lived in their Solly wraps, it’s honestly the only way I made it through any trip out of the house, the witching hour while trying to cook dinner, or any time I had a fussy baby and still had stuff to do (so basically Sully was in his 24/7 lol).
- Willow Pump: This product is brand new and it’s already creating a LOT of buzz. It’s a hands free, cordless, discrete electric breast pump. Why something like this hasn’t existed yet, I do not know. Breastfeeding mamas, this pump provides so much freedom. I cannot wait to try it out. I pumped to build a freezer stash for both of the kids and it’s a labor of love. Sitting down at the same time each morning with all the odds and ends only to be tethered to the spot you sit without being able to move it exhausting but it was worth it. Then I had another baby and I used to beg Christian to not leave for work until I had finished pumping because being stuck on the couch with a toddler and a newborn was terrifying. Oh and also I never left my kids because I hated the pressure of having to pump while I was away. So that means date nights, girls nights, appointments, etc things that were totally normal and possible I skipped because it was too inconvenient. Now I can literally pump while I do anything and nobody even has to know! If the price point scares you, you can do monthly payments or ask for people to chip in for your shower! I have actually heard that they are trying to get it to be covered by insurance companies as well, so fingers crossed for that!
- UPPABaby Travel System: Oh UPPABaby, it really is the Mercedes of the stroller world. It looks pretty, top quality, is going to treat you right, has all of the bells and whistles, but is still practical. There are some brands that sell strollers more akin to a Lamborghini but we all know those are practical for everyday life. Like it said this has all the bells and whistles but has the most practical features as well like a huge storage basket underneath and the option to become a double stroller with a simple purchase of a kit and another seat. Oh and one the bells is a bassinet that comes with the system, that is essentially unheard of! I also linked this package on Amazon that includes the car seat because that thing is primo too! Plus is obviously fits onto the stroller so that’s a plus! Trust me we’ve had a LOT of strollers, like a lot. This takes the cake. Before I even had a blog I registered for this stroller because it’s what my extensive researched said was the best possible option.
- Milkies Milk Savers: This is something I am kicking myself for not having with my first two kids. They are affordable and super easy to use and help you preserve that liquid gold that is so valuable. I am a classic over producer when it comes to breastmilk which means that when I nurse baby on one side the other side it just squirting away in the breast pad and wasting all that goodness. With these I can pop it right into my bra and simply “catch” the milk that is being released at my let down. No pumping or extra fuss, just taking what I’m already making and not wasting one drop. Theres other similar items but they are not discrete like this one. I love that I can bring this out with me and still not waste any milk!
- Covered Good Multi Use Cover: Don’t even ask me how many Covered Goods covers I’ve owned and then given to friends. That’s how much I love them, I have owned so many and then never keep them for myself because they are so valuable I know they deserve to be given to another mama. They are the perfect full coverage nursing cover, plus cover the car seat, the shopping cart, we use them to cover the baby swing at the park, the stroller seat when kiddos take naps, you name it we cover it good. They are the best quality ones I’ve found, and there are lots of copy cats out there now. They have a really specific shape that fits on your shoulders perfectly while still allowing you to peek at baby. Plus, they have the cutest prints and patterns!
