Mrs Seacannon Must-Haves: How We Do Breakfast

Each morning, as we pick up our sweet daughter out of her crib she looks loving into our eyes and then frantically signs for “food”. I can’t blame her, since for as long as I can remember I wake up to a growling stomach as well. For that reason, we don’t mess around at breakfast, and we usually try to hit at least four of the five food groups. The bummer about breakfast is that it happens a lot earlier that I’d like it to, meaning that I’m always looking for ways to make this particular mealtime easy. Thats why I’m sharing some of my must haves for making breakfast a little easier (coffee is a given).

Don’t Just Throw it on the Tray

Well, I suppose you could just throw the food on the tray if you want. To be fair, a lot of her food used to get set on the tray, but now that I can trust her not to chuck it all on the floor we try to stay more civilized. Plus, my friends at Munchkin have come up with the most genius mealtime products. They are practical but also super fun and easy for Elouise to use. I featured my most favorite items for these photos. The squeeze spoon is a spoon tip attached to a refillable squeezy compartment. We like to fill ours with yogurt and sometimes mix in purees or peanut butter. They also have my favorite toddler friendly mighty grip utensils that are ergonomically appropriate for self feeding but have metal prongs so that the fork easily picks up food. The lil’ apple plates are bright and fun with different sized compartments. This helps with my finicky girl, since she doesn’t like messes or food touching. It also helps me keep my portions sizes appropriate. Finally, the miracle cup is the most genius thing ever. You would think it was rocket science, but its the most kid friendly cup out there.

Clean Up, Clean Up Everybody Everywhere

These next things make clean-up a breeze. I’m officially filing it under “things I wish I knew about a long time ago”. Yeah Baby Goods makes these amazing tray covers for the Ikea high chair out of FDA food grade silicone. After your tornado, I mean toddler, makes a lovely mess you simply lift it off and wash it with warm soapy water. In my opinion, that is WAY easier than scrubbing all the nooks and crannies that the yogurt always seems to wind up in. Then, Yeah Baby Goods has the most adorable covers for the high chair insert that are way more aesthetically friendly than the obnoxious red and blue stripes on the standard cover. Elouise actually loves this insert, I often catch her with her arms perched on top of it, leaning her head back like she’s an easy chair. Miraculously, this manages to stay pretty clean, but its removable which means washable. Easy, peasy.

As promised, I have coupon code for you if you are looking to upgrade your current Ikea high chair with some Yeah Baby Goods. You can receive 15% off with the code MRSSEACANNON15 at checkout.
