Summertime has officially begun and you know what that means, don’t you? It’s road trip season! If you guys remember we took a super long road trip last year to Arizona, and we will not be doing anything that crazy again, but we have a few shorter road trips planned. This year we are traveling with two opinionated toddlers rather than one toddler and a sleeping baby, and I knew this would be a game changer. That’s why I’m so excited to have partnered with Firestone Complete Auto Care to share my favorite road trip hack with you guys. Keep scrolling to find my super easy (and cheap) way to keep your kids happy during your road trip this summer, and it might just include a free printable.
Kicking off Summertime with a Staycation
When it comes to Summertime, we don’t mess around in Southern California. Seeing as it feels like summer 80% of the year down here anyway, when its officially time to leave behind the busy schedule and trade it in for extra playtime, we don’t waste any time. With that being said, we decided to do a mini family staycation at Howard Johnson Anaheim because not only does it give us great options for family friendly rooms, but our kids are OBSESSED with the water playground. Plus, it’s walking distance to Disneyland, like literally 8 minutes, which is a huge bonus! If you missed the original blog I wrote about our first stay at HoJo Anaheim you can find it here. If you’re looking for something fun to do with your family this summer, keep reading because I have an awesome discount to share with you!
Exploring the San Diego Harbor
This past weekend we made the drive down to San Diego to explore the harbor. I had never been down to that area and I’m so glad we went, although I wish we would have worn warmer clothes. We only live about an hour and a half away but we left sunny and 80 degrees for cloudy 65 degrees with light sprinkling. Whatcha gonna do? Luckily we spent the first half of our time exploring indoors and by the time we came back outside the drizzling had stopped. Besides just exploring the area, we got to experience Wonder Spaces. It’s a pop-up art exhibit that features installments from independent artists. The kids really enjoyed it and so did we! I think it’s so important to expose them to these unique experiences even when they are so young, it allows for a really cyclical learning experience. Not only do we get to talk to them about what we are doing, but hearing their perspectives and witnessing their joy teaches us to see through the eyes of a child. Kids really are amazing!
The Perfect Gift For Daddy
Father’s Day is just around the corner and to be honest I always have such a hard time finding the right gift to get for my husband. We are in this weird season where the kids aren’t quite old enough to DIY Daddy something meaningful on their own and they don’t go to school where they have a dedicated craft time just for this specific holiday. It leaves me wanting something sentimental but practical and always struggling up until the last minute. Well, I’m happy to say that this year I have partnered with Snapfish to snag the perfect customized gifts for Christian and I’m sharing them here! I know it’s a little early, but I want to help all of you other mams out, so I’m taking one for the team! Plus, if you keep scrolling you’ll find a sweet discount code.
Cleaner Carpets without Chemicals
If you’ve been around, even for the shortest amount of time, you’ve probably noticed I am a freak about chemicals coming into my home. We are non-toxic as possible, and that means that the cleaning products we use are all natural and safe for our family. Well, when I decided enough was enough with our nasty rental carpet that my children lay and play on, my need for non-toxic made it super tough to find a solution. Literally, almost everything I was using some sort of harsh, abrasive, awful, chemical solution to clean my carpets. Meaning I was trading germs for chemicals, and I was not okay with that trade-off. There had to be a better way, and I knew I found it when I came across Zerorez.
