Well the month of August kinda just flew right by without a warning. With being evacuated from the wildfires and dealing with some weird unexplained health stuff (thanks a lot pregnancy) I felt like I didn’t have time to catch my breath! So here it is, the first week of September and I’m diving back in headfirst with really no choice because Elouise just started preschool. She literally started today but I know some of you have had kids in school for a week or two now so this post seems late, but it’s not. I am totally justified in a back to school post on the very day my child starts school, even if it’s a Thursday. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! So, I’ve just complied a few of my favorites for clothes and shoes and also for organization and accessories. As a former teacher and now a mom I feel like I had a pretty good handle on how to crush back to school. We’ll see how long it takes before I forget to pack a lunch though.
The first section of back to school items are really practical clothes and shoes for your little lady that will be stylish, comfortable, and durable. It’s the trifecta of every mom’s dreams! Each piece of clothing I picked will grow with your child for the weirdly still warm Fall days and into the cooler days of Winter by just tweaking small details. For instance, pairing this amazing denim chambray jumper with a short sleeve now and a long sleeve later, heck even add tights and a sweater when it’s super cold! The tiny shorts and “play shorts” and as a former teacher let me please say that if your little girl wears dresses to school PLEASE put these on them. They play on the playground, sit on the floor, and do all sorts of things that could either expose them to icky germs or simply expose them to the rest of the class, if you catch my drift. Trust me, get these. When it gets too cold for the play shorts you’ll probably grab leggings for under dresses and if you want my opinion there is only one place leggings are worth buying, Tea Collection. Not only are the super cute, but they are so thick and don’t get worn out or get holes. The shoes are all durable, easy to clean, and super comfy. We have had Mini Melissas and Adelisa and Co boots multiple times and we keep coming back for more! The Freshly Picked shoes are new to us but they are so well made and Elouise wore them around the house when they arrived yesterday and fully approved.
These next few items are just random things I’m using to make family life easier as we move into a season of BUSY with school and other activities (and a new baby). Bento boxes are my go to for packing lunches. No need for plastic baggies, dishwasher safe, and fun to eat from. Stuck on You has the most amazing selection of personalized lunchboxes and bento boxes. We have a couple for Elouise and this time even got the sandwich tray insert which has one big section because she is obsessed with alllll the sammys lately. I am unfortunately not the mom who packs juice boxes though. Sorry kids, haha! But I will be the mom who buys super freaking cute water bottles to send my kid to school with. We love metal ones but these Camelbacks with the unicorns were something I couldn’t pass up for my fairytale loving girl. Also, because I’m just slightly type-a I snagged some name labels also from Stuck on You to put on pretty much everything that Elouise takes to school. They are dishwasher safe and super durable and also cute as can be. She picked the Skip Hop unicorn backpack, which at first I tried to convince her not to get. I knew every other 3 year old girl would also pick this one and sure enough I saw it on a little girl as I was leaving drop off (thank you name stickers!). However I decided to be a fun mom and let her pick and actually I’m really glad that I did. It’s the perfect pre-schooler size and when she wears it she doesn’t tip over backwards. Finally the most exciting thing I’m doing for organization for our family in this new season is using this weekly calendar, again from Stuck on You. It has enough space to fill out your daily responsibilities but having it in a weekly format keeps it less overwhelming. This way we can all be in the loop about things that are going on!
