I collect a few pieces of decor each year and have slowly been building my collection. Anyone else love the day after Christmas shopping better than Black Friday? Finding the pieces I’ve had my eye on for 50% off give me a rush. Then the next year when I unpack I get to rediscover all of the treasures! Anyway, there are always a few things that I love so much that I can’t risk waiting to see if they’ll still have it the day after. These lists are items I’ve gotten in years past, some from this year, and then a few I have my eye on!
Big Kids & Toddler Shared Room
So, we’ve been in this house for a year now and it wasn’t until we did this room combining project that I actually LIKED the kids room. I never really bothered with trying to make either of the kids ‘rooms “cute” or really decorate them for some reason. I think when I realized that their gorgeous Jenny Lind style twin beds took up 98% of the room all of my inspiration got packed up with the bed frames. I know it’s a little dramatic but I can finally say that I really like being in this house. Losing 1000 square feet really did a number on me I guess. Now, the kids shared big kid and toddler bedroom is maybe my favorite room in the house, but the school room/play room is a close second! I’ve linked as much as I could here and I’m also sharing some tips for transitioning your kiddos to one room!
Extreme Makeover: Backyard Edition!
Was anyone else obsessed with Extreme Home Makeover? It for sure gave me unrealistic expectations for what home renovations and updates required. Also, I recently saw a meme of a girl in a decked out basketball themed room with a caption that read “Me after telling Ty Pennington that I played basketball one time at recess” and I literally snort laughed because it is so true. The rooms were so themed and specific to what the kids liked in that moment but too bad when they change their mind about loving all pink everything in 6 months. Anyway, I’m going down a rabbit hole now, but I’m here to share that an extreme makeover in your backyard doesn’t require crews of workers or days of renovations. Sometimes all you need is a little facelift with some awesome furniture to change the whole vibe of the backyard! We worked with Cosco to freshen things up in our backyard and I can’t wait for you to see all of the details!

Stepping Up Backyard Playtime
When we were looking to move last year, a kid friendly backyard was very low on my list of priorities since we were in such a time crunch. It wasn’t until we had been in our house a month or so that I realized how much I loved it. The kids were almost never in the yard at our last house, for several reasons, but at this house they are out there every single day! We knew it was time to step up our outdoor playtime game for them! That’s why we were so excited when we got the chance to partner with Step2 to surprise the kids with their Naturally Playful Adventure Lodge play set. They are on it for hours everyday!
Living Room Reveal: Halloween Style
I am so relived that our living room is finally done…for now. Let me explain, I don’t feel like the room is “missing” something like I had been this past month. Our new couch finally came, we snagged a new chair from Target, and a new table and chair set for the kiddo from Delta Children. Pretty much everything else we already had! I tried my very best to not buy a bunch of new stuff for this house. We literally cut our square feet in half which means we have double the stuff we needed. So we kept a lot and then sold some to use the money to buy new things we had our eye on. And let me just say for those of you who may be wondering, this is under NO circumstances how my house looks most of the time. Right now, my children have brought a tornado of toys through, but during this blissful hour while everyone slept, there was a place for everything and everything was in its place. And all the mamas said a big ol’ AMEN.
