Stepping Up Backyard Playtime

When we were looking to move last year, a kid friendly backyard was very low on my list of priorities since we were in such a time crunch. It wasn’t until we had been in our house a month or so that I realized how much I loved it. The kids were almost never in the yard at our last house, for several reasons, but at this house they are out there every single day! We knew it was time to step up our outdoor playtime game for them! That’s why we were so excited when we got the chance to partner with Step2 to surprise the kids with their Naturally Playful Adventure Lodge play set. They are on it for hours everyday!

I remember loving being on the swings when I was little, it was such a freeing experience and I really felt like I was flying. It seems like Elouise has that same bug, she spends 90% of her day pumping her legs like a madwoman in order to swing as high as she can while she belts out the current song choice of the day. Also, why is it that kids sing the same song over and over for an entire 24 hour period? It can’t be just mine, right? Sully is all about the glider, which works just as fun with one or two kiddos, and loves to imagine it’s a rocket ship or horse. Not only are my kids having fun playing, they are able to use their imagination and I LOVE that. Then there’s the two level playhouse with the slide and rope ladder. Teddy loved the climb the stationary ladder and spin the “pirate wheel” (what it’s been deemed in our house) and then slide down the slide like a big boy. The underneath of the playhouse is usually Elouise’s restaurant where you can find things like mustard and pickle sandwiches and watermelon juice. Finally, there’s the basketball hoop on the end! Seriously, SO much fun!

There are so many fun features to this play set but the thing I love the most is the durability. We had looked around at a few different play sets, wood and metal, and just found so many reasons why those weren’t the best choice in the long run. Since our kids are so little, I wanted something that would last us for years. Step2 has designed this with double wall construction, it’s fade resistant, and easy to clean. I noticed that this exact version is currently unavailable online but you can snag the version without the glider here. The kids have been having so much fun and I can’t wait for it to officially warm up so we can enjoy our backyard even more with some Step2 water play toys!
