3 Must Haves for a Kid’s Karaoke Party

Elouise requested a karaoke birthday this year and you better believe I ran with that. I gathered all things gold, glittery, and of course had to include a whole bunch of disco balls! Everything was sourced from either Target or Amazon for super cheap which is my favorite kind of party. Everything was simple but still fabulous and to be honest the kids doing karaoke was the best part. It was honestly the most pure and precious thing I’ve ever seen. If take nothing away from this post other than the fact that you need a karaoke microphone, I’ll honestly be happy. Scroll to the end to see the links for everything including the super affordable and epic microphone I snagged from Amazon!

3 Must Haves for a Kid’s Karaoke Party

1. Grab a karaoke microphone!

Now, maybe you already have a cool karaoke machine, or you have a mega party budget and want to go all out on one. That’s fabulous, you do you boo! I was working on a budget with a capital B so I found a $30 karaoke microphone on Amazon (linked below) and its a best seller, the reviews don’t lie. It’s basically a brilliant invention that has all of these awesome features that we didn’t use, but it amplifies your voice from a little speaker in the microphone and that’s all that we really needed. For the music, I just google karaoke tracks on Youtube and connected my phone to our bluetooth speaker. It literally could not have been an easier set up!

2. Set the stage

Okay, obviously if you’re singing karaoke you need a stage! I’m using this term loosely here though. Basically you need something to distinguish the singing area from the rest of the party zone. This honestly just makes it more fun for everyone and creates a really cute photo op. Again, you can get fancy with this if you want, but we spent less than $20 on some foil streamer fringe curtains from Amazon, you know the kind that are all connected in a strip at the top, and cut them into smaller pieces to create layers and a pattern for a more dramatic effect. I had dreams of doing a fringe wall backdrop thing, but I had very little time and even less patience left when it was time to get started. I think it turned out great with very little effort on my part!

3. Buy cheap disco balls from Amazon

Have you guys seen the amount of disco ball options on Amazon?! There are about a gazillion hahah. You can definitely buy more expensive ones if you want the to have a flawless centerpiece but from what I found, the cheapest priced ones had an almost identical quality and the middle priced ones. I will say that the quality is not fabulous unless you want to pay about $100 but its not terrible! My advice it to read reviews on them before purchasing. If you do want to get any of the sized I used, I linked the exact brands I bought from below in my Amazon link!

There are obviously many ways to pull off a karaoke themed party. You can really get as wild or as relaxed as you want. We chose a sort of middle of the road option. Our decorations were super cheap and easy to pull off but they were sparkly, shiny. & fabulous (this is where disco balls really work in your favor!) We created a stage with items we already had and adding on some affordable tinsel curtain backdrops in a fun pattern. And finally, we didn’t need a karaoke machine, we got a ridiculously cheap karaoke microphone. I hope that this gives you some inspiration to plan the karaoke part of your (or your kiddo’s) dreams!
